I felt like working with my hands, holding components of the image in my hands, so to speak. Video and seeing have to do with surface. Depth of space remains an illusion. I wanted to transfer this illusion, the spatial illusion, these illusions and mirages into a reality. Of course, this is impossible. The video image is and remains a two-dimensional surface. Even if I let flowers grow out of the image into the space, as in darlingtonia II. But there I was also a bit seduced by the beauty of the darlingtonias, which are carnivorous plants.
